The Details
Traumatic experience:
Tina was bullied in school, with her experience during second grade being the most severe. Tina was academically advanced and this led her to being isolated from her other classmates, which ended up making her a target for the bullying.
Effects of the traumatic experience:
The bullying affected how Tina interacted with other students, particularly with boys. To try to make herself less of a target, Tina tried to be friends with everyone, tried to be the peacekeeper, and tried to be the protector of her friends. These were things she had to work through later as an adult.
Overcoming the traumatic experience:
Tina began a personal development journey in her teen years, which continued after her time in school when she went through leadership and communication training. Studying psychology in college to better understand human behavior also helped Tina in her healing, along with going through therapy.
What Tina does today: Tina works with leaders, authors, and entrepreneurs who are experts in their field to help them be more effective in getting their message to a bigger audience.
Final Question:
Given what you know now, if you could go back to when you were going through the tough times and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?
Tina's Answer: Don't stop standing up for yourself because you deserve to be safe and to have a great school experience.
