Michael was bullied in junior high school as well as at home by his mother.
Effects of the traumatic experience:
The bullying left Michael with feelings shame and self-consciousness. It also left him shy, withdrawn and uncomfortable in large groups. He’s also had to deal with trust issues.
Overcoming the traumatic experience:
Moving away from home and being exposed to different places has really helped Michael get to a better place today. Also important has been discovering his career path.
What Michael does today:
Michael is a Geographic Information Systems practitioner.
Given what you know now, if you could go back to when you were going through the tough times and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?
Michael’s Answer: Don’t take everything so personally.
