In this episode of The Grass Gets Greener podcast, I'm joined by Jenna Kandyce Linch of Born to Be, Inc. Jenna joins me to share her story of how even though she has experienced different types of abuse, she doesn't see herself as broken, but rather as beautifully put back together.

The Details
Traumatic experience:
Jenna has suffered through child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault.
Effects of the traumatic experience:
Jenna's abuse left her with trust issues. She struggled with eating disorders and self-harm. She also felt like she wasn't good enough and didn't like herself because of the things she was told by others. She's also battled with depression.
Overcoming the traumatic experience:
Writing has been extremely helpful for Jenna. She also learned to start seeing herself in a more positive light thanks to the support of her friends. She's been inspired by the stories of other survivors, while sharing her own story has helped her as well. Starting a non-profit organization to help other abuse survivors has been another source of healing for her also.
What Jenna does today:
Jenna is the founder of the non-profit organization, Born to Be. She's also a member of the RAINN speaker's bureau. And she has started the Little Words of Kindness Campaign.
Final Question:
Given what you know now, if you could go back to when you were going through the tough times and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?
Jenna's Answer: Don't give up because it does get better.
