The Details
Traumatic experience:
Iva was physically abused at home while growing up as a means of punishment due to cultural norms.
Effects of the traumatic experience:
Iva became rebellious and got into trouble, including drugs and alcohol.
Overcoming the traumatic experience:
Meditation, journaling and writing truth letters have helped Iva get to where she is today.
What Iva does today:
Iva is the founder of the Amazing Me Movement and she is volunteering in Guatemala to help the poor and homeless.
Final Question:
Given what you know now, if you could go back to when you were going through the tough times and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?
Iva's Answer: Respect your parents more and don't be so rebellious.
