The Details
Traumatic experience:
Brendan almost died when he fell from a train platform into the gap between the platform and a moving train when he was only seven years old.
Effects of the traumatic experience:
The effects that this experience had on Brendan were only positive. He looked at it as an opportunity to reevaluate his life and to make sure he lives fully, loves fully and makes a difference in this world.
Overcoming the traumatic experience:
What really allowed Brendan to get past this experience and not let it hold him back in any way was his positive attitude. Even though he was in disbelief over what had almost happened to him, he immediately used the experience as a catalyst for living a meaningful life. He did what many people tend to struggle with, and that is keep the promise he made to himself to not take life for granted and to make it count.
What Brendan does today:
Brendan runs The Start of Happiness blog where he helps others learn how to make a difference and earn an income doing what they love. He also runs the website Gradrecruit which helps recent graduates find employment opportunities.
Final Question:
Given what you know now, what's one piece of advice you would give to someone for turning the negative effects of something traumatic into more positive effects?
Brendan's Answer: Find as much positive out of the situation as you can. You could do this by putting 100 lines on a sheet of paper and filling them up with a positive or an opportunity that could come from the experience.
