The Details
Traumatic experience:
Nick's dad left when he was 9 years old, and then he was emotionally, physically and sexually abused by a relative for around 3 years. He was then placed into the foster care system.
Effects of the traumatic experience:
Nick had no self-worth, anger issues, he didn't love himself, he questioned his sexuality, and he struggled with depression at one point.
Overcoming the traumatic experience:
Reading books, listening to motivational messages, the support of his girlfriend who is now his wife, public speaking, and changing his mindset have all contributed to Nick being where he is today.
What Nick does today:
Nick is a motivational speaker and life performance coach, and he mentors young people in the foster care system.
Final Question:
Given what you know now, if you could go back to when you were going through the tough times and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?
Nick's Answer: Just stay strong, hold on, and give yourself time.
