The Details
Traumatic experience:
Jane grew up in a family where there was mental illness, addiction, and intergenerational trauma. In addition, these were things that weren't talked about at the time.
Effects of the traumatic experience:
Jane grew up feeling like she had to be a caregiver for her mom. She also had to work on not repeating codependent relationship patterns and finding different ways to heal both mentally and spiritually.
Overcoming the traumatic experience:
Jane has engaged in psychotherapy while also pursuing ways in which she can use her body to heal. She ended up finding a therapist who had a strength focused and neuroplasticity approach. Jane talks about the role body intelligence and mindfulness has played in her life as well as in the lives of those she helps today. Helping others and spending time in nature horseback riding are also things that have helped Jane get to where she is today.
What Jane does today:
Jane is a holistic personal trainer and mindfulness and trauma coach.
Final Question:
Given what you know now, if you could go back to when you were going through the tough times and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?
Jane's Answer: You have more resources available to you than you realize.
