The Details
Traumatic experience:
Christina was sexually abused by her dad and was traded out to other men around the ages of 8 or 9 years old, and she remembers some abuse occurring before and after those years as well.
Effects of the traumatic experience:
Growing up being sexually abused led Christina to get into an abusive marriage, feel like she wasn't enough, feel overwhelmed by life's challenges, and feel like an impostor.
Overcoming the traumatic experience:
Changing her belief systems, writing and journaling, and connecting with other survivors has helped Christina get to where she is today.
What Christina does today:
Christina is the co-founder of Overcoming Sexual Abuse.
Final Question:
Given what you know now, if you could go back to when you were going through the tough times and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?
Christina's Answer: I didn't need advice; I needed to be seen.
