The Details
Traumatic experience:
Kevin was bullied for about 10 years by a friend he grew up with. He likens it an abusive relationship where he was verbally, emotionally and physically abused.
Effects of the traumatic experience:
The effects of the bullying have reached every aspect of Kevin's life, both good and bad. The bad include struggles with depression, difficulty trusting and social anxiety.
Overcoming the traumatic experience:
Kevin's parents and friends have helped him get to where he is today. Also, going back to school and working as a journalist to tell the stories of other survivors has helped him as well.
What Kevin does today:
Kevin does freelance journalism where he covers crime stories and shares the stories of the survivors.
Final Question:
Given what you know now, if you could go back to when you were going through the tough times and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?
Kevin's Answer: Just hang on because it will get better.
