The Details
Traumatic experience:
Lucy was physically abused by her mom until the age of six when her mom left her and her dad for an opportunity in another country for 10 years. Lucy then went to live with her mom in the new country and her mom was verbally and financially abusive toward her.
Effects of the traumatic experience:
After Lucy moved to a new country, she became more serious and less outgoing. She also developed an unhealthy relationship with money.
Overcoming the traumatic experience:
Becoming very mindful has allowed Lucy to be able to move past the hurt she felt. She's also been able to change her mindset about money and has become grateful for everything she does have.
What Lucy does today:
Lucy is a painter and artist.
Final Question:
Given what you know now, if you could go back to when you were going through the tough times and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?
Lucy's Answer: Love yourself and try to relax about the situation. But also to take that advice to heart today as well.
